This paper proposes a new model for selecting the most value adding supplier foundry for a firm. The model combines the conflicting view points of purchasing, designing, and production related to foundry selection. Additionally, the model links the foundry selection to classifications of components, projects, and suppliers. The study is executed in casting industry. The comparison of the view points and classifications together reveal the total need of a firm in each case and eliminate partial optimization from the foundry selection.
